Last night was a very special evening at the Peachtree City City Council meeting as K-9 Maik was honored for his 7 years of service to our community. Maik will officially retire September 1, 2016 and will be cared for in retirement by his handler Cpl. Andy Johnson and his family.
Here are some of K-9 Maik’s accomplishments:
- 117 drug arrests
- 549 drug searches
- 42 person searches
- Man Tracker Top Dog Competition Champion: 2011, 2013, 2014 runner-up, 2015
Cpl. Andy Johnson gave a tremendous, emotional and heartfelt speech which is an incredible example of the love our K-9 handlers have for their dogs. I encourage you to watch it here: Cpl. Andy Johnson speech (click on Councilmeeting0818 and start at 10:30).
