Kitten Vaccines and Preventive Care

Preventive care, along with proper training, is the key to raising a healthy and happy kitten. To prevent many life-threatening infectious diseases, kittens require a series of several vaccinations. In addition, treatment for very common parasites is routinely given.

Below is our typical kitten preventive schedule. This schedule might be modified based on the age at which a kitten starts their vaccines.

8 Weeks Old

  • Health Examination
  • Feline Leukemia & Feline AIDS Test
  • Feline Distemper Vaccine (FVRCP)
  • Deworm for Roundworms
  • Intestinal Parasite Check (stool sample)
  • Start Heartworm & Flea Preventive (Revolution Topical – to be given monthly)

12 Weeks Old

  • Health Examination
  • Feline Distemper Vaccine (FVRCP)
  • Feline Leukemia Vaccine
  • Feline Immunodeficiency Vaccine (FIV) (if will be going outside in future)
  • Deworm for Roundworms
  • Heartworm & Flea Preventive Monthly (Revolution Topical)

16 Weeks Old

  • Health Examination
  • Feline Distemper Vaccine (FVRCP)
  • Feline Leukemia Vaccine (2nd of series of 2)
  • Rabies Vaccine
  • Feline Immunodeficiency Vaccine (FIV) (if will be going outside in future)
  • Deworm for Roundworms
  • Heartworm & Flea Preventive Monthly (Revolution Topical)
